Responsibilities
- Evaluate and qualify suppliers by researching, sourcing, and conducting audits of supplier facilities and quality management systems.
- Investigate non‑conformances and perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams.
- Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers to eliminate recurring issues.
- Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including defect rates and on‑time delivery, to assess supplier performance.
- Identify trends and opportunities for supplier performance improvement.
- Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or First Article Inspection (FAI) to ensure all supplied components meet engineering specifications.
- Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Communicate technical requirements, engineering drawings, and quality expectations clearly to suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives at supplier facilities using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Identify and mitigate supplier‑related quality risks.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring supplier readiness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality preferred), Science, or a related technical field.
- 5–7 years of experience in supplier quality, quality assurance, or a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, and PPAP.
- Experience with PCB assembly processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and project management skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally and manage supplier relationships.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001 quality standards.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards.
