Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify suppliers by researching, sourcing, and conducting audits of supplier facilities and quality management systems.
• Investigate non‑conformances and perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams.
• Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers to eliminate recurring issues.
• Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including defect rates and on‑time delivery, to assess supplier performance.
• Identify trends and opportunities for supplier performance improvement.
• Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or First Article Inspection (FAI) to ensure all supplied components meet engineering specifications.
• Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Communicate technical requirements, engineering drawings, and quality expectations clearly to suppliers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives at supplier facilities using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Identify and mitigate supplier‑related quality risks.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring supplier readiness.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality preferred), Science, or a related technical field.
• 5–7 years of experience in supplier quality, quality assurance, or a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
• Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, and PPAP.
• Experience with PCB assembly processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and project management skills.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally and manage supplier relationships.

• Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001 quality standards.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Knowledge of aerospace industry standards.

This role offers a hybrid work environment with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. You will be working in a standard manufacturing setting.
