Responsibilities- Demonstrates competency in performing CT examinations on all ages of patients from newborn to geriatric. Ensures the use of adult/pediatric protocols on all exams.
- Communicates calmly, compassionately and professionally with patients and associates.
- Reviews radiology imaging requisitions for required information to perform examinations. Contacts appropriate personnel to review discrepancies.
- Properly identifies and prepares patients for examinations, answers questions and/or refers to other appropriate personnel.
- Follows HIPAA standards to maintain patient privacy and disclosure of protected health information.
- Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology and disease processes to safely scan patients to obtain high quality images.
- Understands shielding and radiation protection for all patients; questions patients of childbearing age and shields as necessary. Documents accordingly.
- Suggests alternate, more appropriate exams to reduce radiation exposure when possible.
- Applies ALARA principles to patient, self and staff.
- Understands Image Wisely and Image Gently programs and dose reduction opportunities; adjusts protocols to fit individual patient criteria.
- Obtains quality diagnostic images after appropriate orientation on the department CT scanners.
- Uses proper aseptic technique, universal protocol and Standard Precautions as needed.
- Demonstrates competency in preparing and administering oral and IV contrast media; understands related policies including contrast screening, hydration protocols, extravasation treatment, medication reconciliation, and premedication.
- Participates in training of new personnel in CT operations and related equipment.
- Maintains equipment in good working order through preventative maintenance and coordinates repairs as needed with supervisor approval.
- Follows all PACS workflow procedures for quality, proper identification and completeness of examinations requested.
- Demonstrates competency in all RIS applications related to patient exam status, exam tracking and radiologist dictation; edits examinations prior to dictation as appropriate.
- Coordinates work to maximize productivity and efficiency during assigned shift using LEAN methodology.
- Assists in maintaining department inventory and restocks supplies as needed; supports kanban system.
- Participates in daily huddles, problem solving, department meetings and in-service education programs.
- Provides patient and family updates on estimated wait times in the CT Department and remains responsive to patient needs.
- Performs personal care for patients as needed and assists with mobility and dressing as indicated.
- Contributes to other areas in the department and hospital as requested; prioritizes duties and adjusts workload for emergencies and varying patient flow.
- Competent in IV venipuncture after training; willing to train in point-of-care phlebotomy.
- Follows and supports all duties as required or assigned.

- Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology program in an AMA-approved school.
- Must be ARRT and advanced CT registered with a valid Massachusetts state license and evidence of continuing education.
- Siemens experience preferred
