The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society seeks a full-time Senior Research Coordinator in Cambridge, MA to work alongside our Faculty Director, Professor Jonathan Zittrain, George Bemis Professor of International Law at Harvard Law School, Director of the Harvard Law School Library, and Professor at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
A motivated individual in this role will sharpen and focus a research agenda and make valuable contributions in the field of cyberlaw, internet governance, and beyond, while working alongside leaders in academia, industry, and government. The Senior Research Coordinator in this position will work very closely on a day-to-day basis with Professor Zittrain and his team, assisting in a variety of research areas, e.g. artificial intelligence, intermediary liability, and disinformation, both directly and through coordinating the work of others.
With mentorship and guidance from Professor Zittrain and other contributors from across the Berkman Klein Center including senior leadership, the Senior Research Coordinator will be expected to take an important role in shepherding the design and execution of research and programming. This role is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates who are eager to deepen their research skills and build experience at the intersection of law, technology, and policy.

- Collaborate closely with faculty, researchers, and project staff across the Berkman Klein Center and the Harvard Law School Library to advance research goals while ensuring effective communication within and among teams.
- Support the planning and execution of programs across the Berkman Klein Center and Harvard Law School Library. This work may include developing and refining fundraising proposals, supporting and contributing to the management of project teams, and supporting the development of strategic partnerships with people and organizations beyond the Harvard community, including through direct discussions as a representative of the Berkman Klein Center.
- Absorb, critically analyze, and concisely summarize large amounts of written and other media materials from various sources in a short amount of time. These may include prep materials for panels, conferences, and presentations; outlines and drafts of articles and papers; slide decks; and other digested forms.
- Prepare syllabi and other curricular materials, lead some classroom discussions, and assist with course planning.
- Assist in supervising the work of Prof. Zittrain’s student research assistants and teaching assistants.
Bachelor’s degree, including 3 or more years of experience in research, administration, or related field. Coursework toward a graduate degree may count toward experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills- A strongly developed interest in cyberlaw, the internet, and/or technology and policy. Please note that previous formal experience in cyberlaw is not required.
- Experience working closely with senior faculty and staff with increasing levels of responsibilities and independence.
- Self‑motivated and organized, comfortable working with little outside direction, and proven ability to complete independent research.
