Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Field SCADA Engineer to support the deployment, commissioning, and validation of Ignition SCADA solutions within mission-critical data centre environments. This is a client-facing position focused on bringing systems online, verifying functionality, and ensuring successful project delivery.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and development teams to commission Ignition-based BMS and EPMS solutions, perform field testing and troubleshooting, and provide technical support during system turnover and go-live activities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys travelling, working directly with customers, and seeing projects through from implementation to final handover.
Travel: Approximately 50-60% throughout North America (with occasional international travel as required).
Key Responsibilities- Deploy and commission Ignition SCADA systems for mission-critical data centre applications
- Perform point-to-point verification of graphics, alarms, trends, control sequences, and field devices
- Support startup activities, functional testing, and integrated systems commissioning
- Validate Perspective projects, HMIs, dashboards, and visualisation platforms in live environments
- Work alongside commissioning teams to ensure systems meet design and operational requirements
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and system performance validation
- Verify communications between SCADA, PLCs, databases, historians, and third-party systems
- Test alarm management, trending functionality, data collection, and real-time system performance
- Identify and resolve interface, communication, and display issues during commissioning
- Ensure system functionality across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms
- Provide hands‑on support to customers during startup and go‑live activities
- Demonstrate system functionality and conduct operator training sessions
- Assist customers through acceptance testing and turnover procedures
- Troubleshoot issues in live operational environments and coordinate resolutions with engineering teams
- Build strong client relationships through professional onsite support
- Document commissioning activities, test procedures, and validation results
- Maintain accurate records of field modifications and as‑built conditions
- Generate punch lists and track issue resolution through project completion
- Support the creation of customer turnover and closeout documentation
- 3+ years of experience with Ignition SCADA, including Ignition Perspective
- Experience commissioning, deploying, or supporting SCADA, BMS, EMS, EPMS, or industrial automation systems
- Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, visualisation systems, alarms, trends, and HMI functionality
- Experience working with PLCs, industrial communication protocols, and system integration
- Proven troubleshooting skills in live production environments
- Ability to work independently at customer sites with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and customer‑facing skills
- High attention to detail with a structured approach to testing and validation
- Willingness to travel up to 60%
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel throughout North America
- OSHA 10 certification (completed within the last two years)
- Candidates without a current OSHA 10 certification will be required to complete training during onboarding
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related technical discipline
- Experience with data centre, critical infrastructure, or mission‑critical facility projects
- Knowledge of SQL databases and industrial historians such as Canary or Ignition Historian
- Experience with MQTT and modern industrial communication technologies
- Understanding of cybersecurity, user role management, and access control within SCADA environments
- Experience supporting large‑scale commissioning or construction projects
- Familiarity with remote troubleshooting and technical support methodologies
- Work on some of the most advanced mission‑critical data centre projects in the industry
- Extensive exposure to Ignition SCADA, BMS, EPMS, and critical infrastructure technologies
- High level of field autonomy and direct customer interaction
