Position Summary

Boston Medical Center is hiring Nursing Supervisors (overnight, weekends, holidays) for its 80‑bed behavioral health hospital in Brockton, MA. The role reports to the Patient Care Director or designee and is responsible for ensuring optimal psychiatric nursing care during off‑shift periods, staff supervision, staffing coverage, quality and safety, and collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Supervise and support nursing staff.
  • Maintain nursing operational standards per BMC, DMH, DPH, and TJC guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement reviews and implementations.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Participate in shift reports, DaSH, chart audits, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Ensure shifts are adequately staffed per regulatory guidelines.
  • Report events to appropriate licensing bodies promptly.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists.
  • Communicate with families, case managers, and stakeholders regarding treatment and care.
Education & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (required).
  • Experience: 3 years nursing and 1 year psychiatric nursing (required).
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.
  • Knowledge &

    Skills:

    • Professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques in psychiatric settings.
    • Understanding of social, psychological, and physical factors of psychiatric disorders.
    • Knowledge of psychotropic medications and side effects.
    • Knowledge of state and federal regulations for inpatient psychiatric care.
    • Principles of crisis prevention and de‑escalation.
    • Leadership in high‑stress situations with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy.
    • Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues, manage budgets, supervise staff, and conduct quality improvement projects.
    • Excellent organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and writing skills.
    • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry into electronic health records.
    • Physical ability to perform core duties in a psychiatric inpatient setting.
Compensation

Base salary range: $43.03 – $62.50 per hour. Total compensation may include benefits such as medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, discretionary bonuses, 403(b) savings match, paid time off, and career advancement opportunities.
