Position
Registered Nurse – Operating Room (MNA) at Boston Medical Center – South
Schedule40 hours per week, variable days and evenings. Shift options:
• (4) 10‑hour shifts – 6:30am‑5pm, 9am‑7:30pm, 11am‑9:30pm
• (5) 8‑hour shifts – 6:30am‑3pm, 9am‑5:30pm, 11am‑7:30pm
The Operating Room at Boston Medical Center – South provides safe, efficient, quality care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical specialties including General, Orthopedic, Vascular, Thoracic, Spine, ENT, Podiatry, Urology, Bariatric, and Robotic surgery. The department operates eight ORs and supports elective, inpatient, and emergency procedures. Registered nurses work alongside surgeons, residents, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and surgical technologists as part of an interdisciplinary team.
PositionSummary
As an RN in the Operating Room, you will deliver patient‑centered nursing care, collaborate with the surgical team, and uphold the department’s high standards of safety and excellence.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
- Communicate effectively with health care team members, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records.
- Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
- Assist leadership with quality‑improvement projects as needed.
- Education:
Nursing Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred). Must obtain a BSN within 4 years. - Experience:
Previous operating‑room experience required. - Licensure/Credentials:
Massachusetts RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) required. - Vaccination:
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu, and receive a COVID‑19 booster. - Background:
Must complete a background check and be enrolled in E‑Verify.
Compensation Range: $38.10‑$77.63 per hour, based on education, experience, and licensure.
