The Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of nursing operations within the assigned clinical area to ensure the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of patient care. The role integrates clinical practice oversight with operational management, ensuring that nursing care is planned, delivered, and evaluated in accordance with established standards of care, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. The Nurse Manager oversees clinical activities, workflows, and staffing to support consistent implementation of the nursing process and to promote quality, safety, and patient-centered outcomes.
This position functions with general supervision and exercises independent judgment in managing unit-level operations, supervising staff, and addressing clinical and operational issues within established guidelines. The role supports departmental and organizational goals by ensuring nursing services are aligned with hospital priorities, performance expectations, and patient care standards.
Ensure consistent delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in alignment with departmental goals, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
Direct daily operations, assign work, monitor performance, and address workforce issues in accordance with established personnel policies, labor agreements, and budgetary parameters.
Support patient care needs, maintain appropriate coverage, and ensure compliance with departmental standards and applicable labor contracts.
Ensure the nursing process is consistently applied, patient flow is efficient, and resources are used effectively to meet patient care demands.
Collaborate with the Nurse Director and other partners to implement timely and appropriate solutions within defined authority.
Participate in unit-based quality activities, risk management efforts, and approved research, monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Support education, orientation, and competency-based assignments, and contribute to structured development activities such as preceptorship and unit-based training programs.
Maintain situational awareness of patient care needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide direct patient care as required to support unit operations.
Education: Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program (BSN) required.

Certifications:
Active Massachusetts RN license. Certification in related specialty areas may also be required.
Experience: Minimum of three years clinical experience with a minimum of two years clinical experience relevant to the unit patient population required.
Knowledge +
Skills:
Analytical and organizational skills to supervise staff and develop, implement, and evaluate policies and standards. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to mentor, train, and collaborate effectively in a team environment. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Basic computer proficiency to access, enter, and interpret electronic information.
Range: $90,500.00 – $. This range is an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. Compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and business needs.
