Data Scientist
Senior Data Scientist/Computational Biologist – Core for Computational Biomedicine, Department of Biomedical Informatics, Harvard Medical School. The role involves processing, analyzing, and integrating single‑cell and spatial multi‑omics data, developing tools, algorithms, and pipelines to support research labs, and performing AI‑enabled methods, training, open‑source software, and collaboration with faculty.
Responsibilities- Lead integrative data analyses for Harvard Medical School research groups, focusing on single‑cell and multi‑omic datasets; execute projects independently and collaboratively, provide guidance and communicate results clearly.
- Design, implement, document, and maintain reproducible analysis workflows for QC, integration, modeling, and reporting.
- Evaluate and implement AI‑assisted approaches for research acceleration while ensuring rigor and reproducibility.
- Develop and deliver hands‑on workshops and learning materials; provide consultation to promote best practices in computational biology and reproducible research.
- Contribute to and maintain open‑source software and data resources, support releases, user documentation, and engage external communities.
- Minimum seven years of post‑secondary education or equivalent experience.
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Statistics or related field – strongly preferred.
- Substantial experience in analyzing genetic, genomic, or image data.
- Proficiency in R or Python.
- Experience analyzing single‑cell and spatial omics data.
- Working knowledge of git or similar software development tools.
- Experience writing data publishing tools such as RStudio Shiny or Connect applications.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Tensor Flow or PyTorch.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and on teams.
- Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred.
- One‑year term from date of hire, possible extension contingent upon performance and funding.
- 35 hours per week.
