Position: Mobile Trailer Mechanic II $3000 New Hire Bonus

Job Summary

Mobile Trailer Repair Technician II – responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties such as trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and replacement of panels and body framework. Work is performed at the customer’s site and may include more advanced repairs under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Trailer Technician or higher.

Duties
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on various trailers and equipment with little or no supervision.
  • Document work using the company’s iOS device and TRAIT application, upload pictures, parts used, and findings.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics and repairs, trailers brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical components.
  • Comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
  • Manage parts inventory, reconcile inventory, and maintain the company-issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre-/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work independently, manage your own schedule, and prioritize assigned tasks.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks as needed.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors and communicate with management to obtain approvals on repair estimates.
  • Perform work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Participate in and complete all required safety training.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with customers and vendors.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (Trailers). Alternative combinations of education and experience are acceptable.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a single‑tech environment.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Completion of all required company training.
  • Successful completion of a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Valid DOT medical card or passage of DOT physical, with at least 4 months of validity remaining.
  • At least 21 years of age, safe driver with a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Driver Qualification File.
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification required or obtainable within 18 months. Other ASE certifications (e.g., T4, T5, T6, T7) are preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of trailer parts and systems, repair techniques, and maintenance methods.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Physical endurance for repetitive tasks without tiring.
  • Strong judgment of distances and visual assessment of objects.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Logical reasoning and problem‑solving skills to evaluate alternatives.
