Location:

West Wareham, MA. The employee’s work site will depend on the current project or projects; potential for travel should be expected.

Responsibilities
  • Perform testing and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Operate electrical test equipment.
  • Design basic electrical circuits.
  • Install electrical components.
  • Run and terminate wiring.
  • Cut, crimp, and install cabling.
  • Pull wire harnessed through conduit.
  • Drill and tap holes.
  • Clean, sandblast and paint old parts.
  • Disassemble, assemble locomotive parts and subassemblies.
  • Know and understand FRA rules (training required.)
  • Interact with customers (minimal.)
  • Teamwork with customers and co‑workers.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
:
Five years equivalent experience building and/or maintaining heavy equipment. Strong understanding of locomotive maintenance and repair; manufacturing experience a plus.

Preferred Experience
:
Working with diesel engines, propulsion and pneumatics in large industry such as rail, agriculture, mining, marine, etc.

Language Skills
:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations. Ability to communicate verbally with others.

Mathematical Skills
:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
:
Ability to apply understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grasp, pull, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee is occasionally required to work in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Communication by talking and listening are required. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour. Compensation may be influenced by training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location.
