Position Summary
Under general supervision, installs, maintains and repairs hospital HVAC, refrigeration and related components for efficient and cost‑effective operation. Operates tests and overhauls a variety of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems and associated equipment. Performs tasks within capabilities involving piping systems, motors and controllers. Position:

- Performs all repairs and maintenance of heating/cooling and ventilating components for efficient and cost‑effective BMC operations.
- Performs all repairs and maintenance of refrigeration systems, including kitchen equipment, ice machines, water bubblers, etc.
- Operates tests and overhauls a variety of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
- Performs tasks involving piping systems, motors and controllers.
- Maintains and repairs HVAC equipment, using knowledge of pneumatic control systems and/or electronic control systems.
- Sets up scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in compliance with safety codes.
- Estimates time and materials required; maintains computerized records and submits reports of work performed.
- Performs daily record keeping, entering and updating work performed in the CMMS.
- Maintains appropriate service and repair records; performs cycle counts and inventories equipment parts and supplies.
- Places orders for supplies when below par; maintains a clean, dust‑free work environment.
- Responds to routine and emergency repair and service calls.
- Performs work, service and repairs beyond HVAC equipment as needed when not requiring a license.
- Assists with training and monitoring the work of junior staff or temporary help as requested.
- Serves as backup to other Facilities employees within scope of abilities and skill set.
- Adapts to changes in departmental needs, adjusting assignments and being flexible to work different hours when needed.
- Utilizes hospital behavioral standards, infection control and safety procedures; demonstrates respectful customer service and compliance with patient rights and hospital standards.
- At least three years performing HVAC installation and/or repair in residential, commercial, industrial, or facility operations settings.
- Knowledgeable in Building Automation Systems operation and functioning.
- Experienced in brazing, silver solder and pipe alterations.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic control systems and/or electronic control systems (Johnson and Siemens).
- Working knowledge of balancing water and air.
- Basic computer proficiency for record keeping and report preparation.
- Proficient in reading, comprehending, and working from plans and blueprints; able to follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Highly organized with ability to maintain productivity and workflow across multiple projects.
- Team player with ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Sensitive to and respectful of diverse population.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, bend, stand, climb, walk; use manual tools and power equipment safely; handle hazardous materials safely.
$28.50–$42.35 per hour, based on qualifications.
