Arrowhead Winch engineers and manufactures industrial winch, hoist and drive systems under the BRADEN, CARCO and Gearmatic brand names in Broken Arrow and Okmulgee, Oklahoma. We are seeking a talented Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in Broken Arrow. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for performing and overseeing advanced cost accounting activities, including product costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, standard cost maintenance, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with operations, engineering and purchasing teams to ensure accurate product costing, support business decision-making, and maintain strong internal controls. The Senior Cost Accountant analyzes manufacturing costs, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and contributes to process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
EssentialFunctions/Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the standard costing process, including ongoing review, refinement, and validation of costing methodologies.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory transactions, and cost variances to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate and perform periodic reviews and updates of product standard costs.
- Prepare and analyze monthly cost accounting reports, including labor, material, and overhead variances.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, supporting schedules, and account reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounting activities.
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain cost models and reporting tools to improve costing accuracy, visibility, and decision‑making.
- Prepare cost estimates and profitability analyses for new products, product modifications, and special projects.
- Support inventory accounting functions, including physical inventory observations, cycle count programs, inventory reconciliations, and reserve analyses.
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation, analyses, and responses to audit inquiries.
- Assist in the execution and documentation of internal control processes and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to evaluate cost drivers and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 2 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost structures.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word).
- CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis tools.
