The work we do matters! Nebraska Game & Parks is seeking a physically driven and quality‑motivated individual to join our Operations and Construction crew. This permanent full‑time position will range from semi‑skilled to skilled construction work. You will work alongside, learn from, and assist skilled craftsmen on projects that include minor repair work to large‑scale construction projects. The role requires physical manual labor with hand and power tools, and operation of light to heavy earth‑moving equipment.

• Remodel visitor cabins: frame new walls, install siding, shingle roofs, hang drywall, build cabinets, and install new windows & doors.
• Replace or install new concrete sidewalks or trails.
• Operate machinery such as skid steers, wheel loaders, mini‑excavators, forklifts, and other equipment and tools.
• Plan for and perform regular maintenance of equipment, tools, and machinery.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or another building trade.
• Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
• Valid driver’s license.

• General knowledge of building construction and/or maintenance practices.
• Ability to safely maintain and operate equipment, powered tools, and hand tools necessary for the construction or repair work assigned, including skid loaders, back hoes, rubber‑tire loaders, trenchers, and other equipment.
• General knowledge in the use of construction levels and how to set grade for and determine percent of slope for drainage and ADA projects.
• Perform manual labor, work in adverse weather conditions, tight spaces, climb ladders, conduct inspections, and identify safety hazards.
• Basic office and computer skills, including use of email.
• Ability to communicate effectively, understand, and follow directions.
• Read and comprehend blueprints and determine materials and equipment necessary to complete projects.
