Instrument Sterilization Attendant A/B, Penn Dental Medicine

The Instrument Sterilization Attendant is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, identifying, and assembling all dental instruments used throughout the Penn Dental Medicine clinics. The attendant selects the appropriate sterilization method, operates sterilization equipment, and manages delivery and inventory of equipment. The position may involve occasional weekend and overtime work, including preparation for student licensing exams.

Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate, clean, identify, and assemble dental instruments.
  • Select correct sterilization methods and operate sterilization equipment.
  • Issue and collect instrument supplies and laboratory equipment using scanning equipment.
  • Deliver and inventory equipment across clinics.
  • Cross‑train in instrument dispensing and research lab sterilization tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the clinic manager.
Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or two‑year college equivalent; 0 to 2 years of relevant experience depending on level (A or

B). Dental or medical background helpful. Must lift/push up to 150 lbs / 100 lbs, follow detailed instructions, multitask in a fast‑paced environment, and work during exam preparations.
