Job Description:

The Department of Criminal Justice is seeking either a Full-time Instructor or a Full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor. Rank will be contingent upon degree, educational experience, and background. The successful candidate will teach a full range of courses in the Criminal Justice and Homeland Security programs on the Broken Arrow campus. Delivery of courses will be through a variety of modes, including online, blended, and traditional face-to-face.

This position requires individuals to work effectively in collaboration with all internal and external partners. Depending on rank and status, the position may require expectations to publish in peer-reviewed venues and to provide service to the department, college, and university.

This position requires an advanced level of professional expertise in Homeland Security, demonstrated through extensive field experience, specialized training, and a proven record of leadership within complex security environments. Candidates should possess experience comparable to the rigor and depth of a doctoral-level credential in Homeland Security, including

substantial knowledge in emergency management, critical infrastructure protection, threat assessment, intelligence analysis, and interagency coordination.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strategic planning capabilities, applied operational experience, and a history of successful program development or organizational leadership within the homeland security, public

safety, military, or law enforcement sectors. Equivalent experience may include senior-level command roles, advanced federal or state security assignments, high-level investigative or protective operations, and documented expertise in policy development or security-related research and analysis.

Qualifications

The successful Candidate will have:

(1) An earned terminal degree or graduate degree with equivalent experience in criminal

justice or a related field of study from an accredited university (a Juris Doctorate alone

will not be accepted for this position),

(2) Demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching and service to the

university and profession,

(3) Applied experience in law enforcement,

(4) Ability to work in collaboration with other university departments,

(5) Ability to develop, build, and grow the program, and

(6) Ability to create connections in the criminal justice community including Native American law enforcement agencies.

Preference will be given to candidates with extensive law enforcement and homeland security experience who can teach Northeastern State Universities Criminal Justice courses
