Job Title: Tiger Connect Coach

Department: Instruction

Reports To: Teacher/Administrator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment Status: Full time, 9 months

Salary: Based on Experience and Education

Minimum

Job Requirements

Education: Associates degree or successful completion of Para Pro or Work Keys assessments required

Experience: 6 months working with children with behavior challenges preferred

Skills: Completion of MANDT and CPR training; knowledge of and appropriate use of behavior intervention strategies

Essential Job Functions

The following statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to the position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

  • Functions as an active team member in the provision of instructional support to the certified teacher by:
  • attend training sessions as directed by classroom teacher and/or administrator in an effort to fully support students
  • assisting with individual student instruction using lessons developed by the teacher including written and oral materials
  • assisting with supplementary work for students and directing independent study under the supervision of the teacher
  • reinforcing lessons with small groups of students
  • administering classroom assessments and collecting data on student progress, scoring tests and papers, and keeping records and filing as directed by teacher
  • assisting the teacher in observing, recording and charting behavior
  • monitor the class when teacher is out of the room
  • manage interfering student behavior by implementing positive behavioral management strategies designed to promote positive social student engagement; respects and collaborates with teachers discipline decisions and methods; looks for cues signaling student unrest and provides early intervention; assists students in time-out room, monitors student while in time-out, assists with debriefing and processing of problems with students
  • attending 504, IEP meetings and/or parent meetings at the request of the team
  • Provides non-instructional support by:
  • transporting students, supervising bus duty including assisting with adaptive equipment, monitoring students waiting for or returning via shuttle bus, monitoring physical welfare of students
  • accompanying students from the classroom to other areas or school sites as needed
  • supervising the playground and lunchroom including inside/outside recess, helping students with ticket purchase, helping students through the lunch line, monitoring class while in the cafeteria
  • setting up and maintaining special classroom equipment and learning centers
  • responding quickly and assisting with crisis problems and discipline
  • assisting with general classroom organization such as lockers, cubbies, diaper bags
  • assists with providing supervision for all students and other duties as directed by teacher and/or administrator
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Behavior

Ability to use sound judgment in any situation. Ability to deal successfully and rapidly with changes in assignments and properly respond to applicable correspondence/communication received. Ability to project a professional company image through in-person, phone, and electronic interaction. Ability to build and foster harmonious rapport and work cooperatively with District staff and the public while achieving the objectives and goals of the position.

Ability to handle problematic and/or difficult situations professionally by communicating with the appropriate person.

Attendance Statement

Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities with 95% attendance.

Environmental Conditions

Primarily inside working conditions with minimal exposure to extreme environmental conditions. Some outside duty assignments required with exposure to pollen, heat, cold, wind, humidity or other weather conditions. Risk of exposure to bodily fluids. Exposure to aggressive and combative behavior of students.

Physical Standards

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach. Talking and hearing as to communicate verbally; smell to identify odors; close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) with or without correction; distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) with or without correction; color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors);

peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; ability to react quickly with no advance warning to secure student safety, including running/chasing student and/or to control student behavior. Walking as required to perform responsibilities and care for students (> 30% of time)
