Education:
Bachelor's degree and a valid Oklahoma certification in the subject area taught; meets Oklahoma State Department of Education and federal standards for a qualified teacher.
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written information; skill in writing required reports/correspondence; ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from others; ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations; ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Job Functions
- Teaches district-approved curriculum using various instructional techniques.
- Encourages student achievement and uses minimal class time for non-instructional routines to maximize time on task.
- Guides learning toward district curriculum and goals by establishing clear short-term and long-term objectives for lessons and communicating them to students.
- Participates in collaborative planning, data analysis, and instruction with peers and district initiatives.
- Ensures students demonstrate mastery of district objectives through projects, daily assignments, and performance on formative and summative assessments.
- Participates in district-approved professional development focused on developing competencies and instructional strategies that meet the State Department of Education and district initiatives.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records per law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Adopts precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students' maturity and interests; establishes expectations of pupil behavior, and provides a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate.
- Develops and maintains lesson plans and instructional materials appropriate to the district curriculum, differentiated as needed.
- Communicates regularly with parents both inside and outside normal contract day.
- Accepts and performs teaching and other duties, including co-curricular and extracurricular duties, assigned by superintendent and principal to maintain educational programs.
- Attends all required meetings as mandated by superintendent and principal.
- Complies with assigned duty times per teacher contract day.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in all situations; adapt effectively to changes; project a professional image through all communication; build positive relationships and work cooperatively with staff and public; manage challenging situations professionally and communicate concerns appropriately.
Attendance StatementRegular and reliable attendance is required: at least 95% attendance per contract.

Physical StandardsMust regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, talk, and hear. Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective devices. Must respond quickly to ensure student safety, including running, intervening in student behavior situations, and assisting students as needed.
