Position SummaryThe Academic Partner, in collaboration with the academic content manager and other members of Teaching and Learning, is responsible for delivering high-quality instructional resources, enhancing classroom practices, and scaling effective programs within their assigned schools and network to increase Tulsa Public Schools students’ achievement and to prepare all students for success in college, career, and life. The Academic Partner works with their instructional leadership director to provide leadership for literacy in the district.
KeyFunctions
- Serves as the primary literacy resource for a set of assigned schools
- Provides coaching, modeling, co-teaching, and observation to school teams
- Engages in data-based strategic planning to support student growth in literacy
- Delivers professional learning aligned to district instructional priorities
- Serves as a liaison between schools and district literacy and assessment teams
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary or secondary education, literacy, language and literacy, or bilingual literacy required; master’s degree preferred
- Five (5) years’ experience in effective K-12 classroom teaching
- Five (5) years’ experience in literacy, language and literacy, or ESL literacy
- Current Oklahoma teacher certification required
- Reading teacher endorsement, reading specialist endorsement, bilingual or ESL endorsement preferred
- Embody and support the department in living Tulsa Public Schools’ core values
- Knowledge and understanding of curricular frameworks, pedagogy, lesson planning, standards analysis, and quality classroom materials
- Deep knowledge of literacy standards, learning, and assessment
- Skill in implementing culturally responsive education practices
- Familiarity with Tulsa Public Schools’ learning expectations and curricular resources
- Ability to design and facilitate professional learning experiences aligned to Tulsa Public Schools’ vision for professional learning
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- A positive outlook, flexibility, and sense of possibility in stressful situations
- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
- Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team
- Maintain personal engagement in professional development to enable growth and improvement for this position
- Knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices to support multilingual learners and students with disabilities highly preferred
