Reading Recovery Interventionist

This position reports to the Building Principal and is full time. The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in reading and/or extensive training and experience in elementary reading instruction. The candidate should have demonstrated knowledge of best instructional practices and research-based intervention practices. They will analyze assessment data and provide real-time push-in and pull-out research-based interventions.

Responsibilities include gathering, organizing, and interpreting assessment data on identified students. They will utilize best practices instructional strategies and research-based intervention curriculum materials to meet the learning needs of identified students. Direct instruction will be provided to students identified for reading services in individual, small group, and/or full classroom settings. Existing student achievement data will be analyzed, and student assessment and progress monitoring instruments will be administered as needed to aid in progress monitoring of students.

Accurate student records, parent communications, and student progress data reports will be maintained. Parent conferences and telephone conferences will be conducted and participated in as needed. Professional competence will be maintained and improved through professional development activities. Coordination in discussion or activities focused on using research to improve reading/language arts teaching will be conducted.

The candidate must use sound judgment in any situation, deal successfully and rapidly with changes in assignments, and properly respond to applicable correspondence/communication received. They should project a professional company image through in-person, phone, and electronic interaction. Building and fostering harmonious rapport and working cooperatively with District staff and the public while achieving the objectives and goals of the position is essential.

Handling problematic and/or difficult situations professionally by communicating with the appropriate person is also required.

The candidate must follow district attendance guidelines and work in a typical office and school environment. Mobility, sitting for extended periods of time, and seeing, hearing, and talking so as to deliver interventions clearly to students are necessary physical standards.
