Meca Enterprises is a specialized engineering firm based in Broken Arrow, OK with 25+ years serving industrial clients worldwide. Our work centers on structural analysis and design for process equipment—primarily air-cooled heat exchangers, steel stacks, and flare systems—plus proprietary software tools and field solutions for stack vibration problems.
We’re a small, technically deep team. Low bureaucracy, few meetings, clear expectations. Engineers here own their work end-to-end and build direct client relationships.
Why this role existsWe’re hiring to add senior capacity and reduce key-person risk as the business grows. You’ll work alongside the owner and an experienced engineer, learning Meca’s systems and standards before taking on full project ownership. The long-term expectation is that you run engineering independently—quoting, designing, and delivering with minimal oversight.
What you’ll work onEquipment breakdown (typical):
- Air-cooled heat exchangers (ACHEs): ~60% of workload
- Steel stacks and flares: ~25%
- Custom/specialty requests: ~15%
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Structural analysis and design reports for ACHEs, stacks, piping supports, and related components
- Quoting engineering services from client specifications and drawings
- Direct client communication—email, phone, and occasional on-site
- Code research and application across a range of standards (AISC, ASME, API, IBC, international codes)
- Coordination with Meca’s software team to resolve engineering questions
- Independently evaluating and quoting most engineering projects
- Proficient on ACHEs and standard stacks with minimal review required
- Trusted to communicate directly with clients and manage revisions
- Taking high-level tasks and owning them through delivery
- Freeing up leadership time—work moves forward without being prompted
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (ABET preferred)
- 3+ years of structural engineering experience
- Strong working knowledge of steel structural design and applicable codes
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
- Authorized to work in the US (no H-1B sponsorship)

- Prefer handing problems up rather than researching and proposing solutions
- Are uncomfortable in a small-company environment where roles overlap
- Don’t treat deadlines as commitments
- Aren’t willing to be accountable for the quality of your own work
- Independent work environment—you’ll own your projects, not just tasks

- Documentation matters—we build shared knowledge, not individual silos
- We use AI tools where they reduce repetition; comfort with emerging tools is a plus
