Engineer Staff- Perform sophisticated technical tasks and lead teams on projects of major scope and complexity.
- Participate in the development and implementation of technical standards and specifications (e.g., electrical area classification, grounding design).
- Interpret technological aspects of business and coordinate with leaders to ensure success.

- Collaborate with others to ensure compliance, build improvement plans, and meet training needs.
- Handle resource requirements for projects.
- Lead initiatives to enhance electrical system reliability through root‑cause analysis, preventive maintenance optimization, and advanced system studies such as arc‑flash, load flow, and coordination.
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies.
- Oversee the evaluation of engineering packages to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and project objectives.
- Diagnose complex electrical issues in various systems and equipment, providing expert guidance and training to field support engineers.
- Design and implement robust preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and equipment.
- Conduct in‑depth power‑system analyses, including short‑circuit, protective device coordination, arc‑flash hazard, harmonics, voltage drop, load flow, transient motor start, and power‑factor correction studies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology in a relevant field with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry. - Other requirements:
- Ability to work on engineering specialties covering more than one subject area.
- Excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and prioritization of safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC skills.
- Strong theoretical understanding of power‑system analysis for low‑ and medium‑voltage applications.
- Experience with power‑system analysis including short‑circuit, coordination, and arc‑flash hazard analysis.
- Proficiency with engineering tools: SKM Power Systems, ETAP, GE Multilin, SEL Relay software.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (API, IEEE, NESC, NEC, NFPA).
- Experience designing layout and spacing, specifying equipment, performing grounding studies, and performing protection and coordination studies.
- Preferred:
Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification. - Preferred:
Project management experience.
- Account for a diverse range of sophisticated assignments requiring experience, innovation, and judgment.
- May supervise the work of others.
- Demonstrate technical expertise in a specialty, geographic area, or operational function and apply specialized knowledge to the effective completion of large‑scope projects.
- Prepare and deliver presentations.
- Anticipate internal/external customer needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions.
- Interpret internal/external business challenges and improve products, processes, or services.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance, build improvement plans, and meet training needs.
- Champion processes, procedures, and safety standards.
- Monitor and control costs and resources associated with projects.
