Senior Energy Engineer

Key responsibilities include:
  • Executing and supervising facility audits to pinpoint energy/water conservation opportunities.
  • Gathering utility, facility, operations, and other data essential for identifying energy conservation measures (ECMs).
  • Proposing ECMs and preparing energy analyses for facilities and/or systems.
  • Scrutinizing blueprints to evaluate mechanical, electrical, and control systems and determining facility operational characteristics.
  • Conducting detailed analyses for mechanical and control system energy improvements, utilizing custom tools, spreadsheets, and/or energy-modeling software.
  • Recommending energy-efficient design solutions and technology upgrades, substantiated by accurate descriptions, measured and logged energy data, savings calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Developing plans and protocols for Measurement & Verification, commissioning, and post-implementation Operations & Maintenance.
  • Coordinating the integration of design engineering, project construction, start-up/turnover, and subsequent Operations & Maintenance procedures for energy projects.
  • Identifying potential projects with ECMs (e.g., technical, construction, price, schedule, environmental considerations, warranties, performance guarantees) and collaborating on risk mitigation plans.
  • Overseeing the engineering analyses and technical support provided by project subcontractors.
Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to:
  • Over 5 years of experience in energy efficiency modeling and analysis.
  • Expertise in building energy systems (e.g., HVAC, controls, central utilities, etc.).
  • Preferred experience in implementing energy conservation and performance contracts.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent discipline (mechanical discipline is preferred).
  • Consideration for an advanced degree in engineering.
  • Preferential consideration for PE certification.
