Salary: up to $52,351.20, based on education and experience

Positions in this job family are assigned field investigations involving abuse, neglect, and exploitation perpetrated against children in out‑of‑home residential placement and vulnerable adults in accordance with all state and federal laws. Duties may include investigating caretaker misconduct, producing written investigative reports for use in administrative and/or criminal proceedings.

• Carry a caseload of investigations regarding abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and exploitation and follow all policy related to completion of investigations.
• Complete all investigation activities according to policy and statute guidelines.
• Conduct field interviews with victims, witnesses, providers, guardians, accused staff and other professionals to assist in determining investigative outcomes.
• Identify policy violations and unauthorized practices, and report concerns to contract and licensing monitors.
• Collect evidence and documentation, including photographs, videos, written statements, incident reports, police reports, and medical records.
• Prepare written investigative reports containing demographic information, interviews, evidence, documentation, and a summary of findings to provide to district attorneys and guardianship courts as applicable.
• Perform post‑investigation activities, including appearing and testifying in registry hearings and/or criminal proceedings.
• Be placed on an on‑call rotation to respond to priority investigations after hours and on weekends.
• Be present in the office as an essential function of the job.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrate knowledge of and support the mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
• Work effectively in a team environment, participating and assisting peers.

Bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience in investigation, auditing, social work, juvenile justice, personnel administration, law enforcement, child support enforcement, or working with persons with intellectual disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing social service agencies and residential facilities or contract providers; of quality control and audit procedures; and of review and investigative techniques. Ability to review and analyze large amounts of information, conduct interviews effectively, gather and analyze evidence, organize and present facts concisely and objectively, testify in court, maintain effective working relationships, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

This role involves conducting fieldwork within the community, including visits to private homes and care facilities. Employees must talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires daily use of a laptop computer and cell phone. Travel is required. Presence in the office is an essential function.
