Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary: Up to $50,000.00 for Level I;
Up to $54,000.00 for Level II (based on education, experience, and level)
The Health Educator is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of health education and promotion programs. Level I incumbents perform full‑cycle program work. Level II incumbents serve as specialists, leading team projects and advanced program implementation.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Conduct need assessments at the individual, organizational, and community levels to determine appropriate theoretical bases for program and strategic planning.
- Collaborate on programmatic and strategic planning with stakeholders regarding health issues and infrastructure development.
- Implement and monitor evidence‑based health education curricula and promotion programs, ensuring completeness, fidelity, and evaluation.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend necessary changes.
- Assist in developing grant‑related documents and proposals.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies, communities, and organizations for specialized health education program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Prepare and deliver public presentations for selected audiences.
- Maintain consistent presence at the office as an essential job function.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate knowledge of mission, vision, values, standards, policies, confidentiality standards, and ethical behavior code.
- Work effectively in a team environment, participating and assisting peers.
Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, School Health Education, Health Studies, Nutrition, Health Behavior, Public Health, Education, Behavioral Health/Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Nursing, or a related field.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree as above + one year of experience in public health education or community development.

Knowledge of public health problems, principles, and practices; theoretical concepts of health behavior; group organization and leadership; community infrastructure development; current socio‑economic public health issues; statistical methods; basic epidemiology; and grant preparation. Ability to speak publicly, organize communities, establish coalitions, lead groups, prepare educational materials (pamphlets, bulletins, oral presentations, articles, newsletters, curricula), use relevant computer software (word processing, digital/video presentation), demonstrate cultural competence, and coordinate advanced‑level projects.
PhysicalDemands and Work Environment
Office setting, climate‑controlled, moderate noise. Requires standing, walking, reaching, prolonged sitting, daily computer and phone use, and willingness to travel as needed. Daily presence at the office is essential.
