Overview

Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist – Blood Bank (3rd Shift)

Shift: 3rd Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Pay Rate: $30–$36 per hour

Department: Blood Bank

Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) / Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join our Blood Bank team. In this role, you will perform routine and complex laboratory testing to ensure accurate and timely results that support high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate specimens for acceptability according to established guidelines.
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory testing following departmental SOPs.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
  • Make sound technical decisions and resolve testing-related issues.
  • Prepare, test, and validate reagents and quality control materials.
  • Report accurate and timely laboratory results.
  • Perform and document quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain adequate bench supplies and assist with specimen processing as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and use appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (meeting CLIA and state requirements).
  • 0–2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers; experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
Certifications
  • ASCP or AMT certification – Required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Blood Bank experience preferred.
  • State Medical Technologist license (if required by state regulations).
