PRN Patient Care Assistant II (PCA) – Days
OverviewPart‑time temporary position. Compensation: $30.00 per hour with a $0.87 shift differential for 3 pm–7 am. No more than 1,000 hours annually.
Responsibilities- Perform direct nursing tasks including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living and hygiene needs, and obtaining certain lab specimens.
- Chart observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition.
- Perform delegated or other specialized functions as educationally prepared.
- Escort patients to and from various destinations.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Order, receive and store supplies and perform basic clerical functions.
- Participate in follow‑up activities, track clients, schedule appointments and perform related tasks.
- Provide case finding and recruitment of at‑risk persons for comprehensive health services.
One year of experience in providing patient care. Knowledge and skills: effective communication in English; knowledge of public health services, record keeping, interviewing techniques, basic nursing practices and techniques, basic sanitation and personal hygiene, and medical terminology. Ability to record observations, follow oral and written directions, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and apply basic nursing techniques.
Special RequirementsPossession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and/or Class C (CDL) Commercial Driver’s License may be required. Some agencies may require translation of health information for non‑English speaking clients. Current certification in good standing by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a (CNA) Certified Nursing Aide (Level I and II) is required;
Level III requires (CMA‑A) Certified Medication Aide Advanced. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections requires current certification as a (CMA) Certified Medication Aide. Physical examination requirements include occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling a maximum force of 25 lbs. Certain positions may be defined as safety‑sensitive as per legal definitions.
