Child Nutrition Specialist
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Education:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related fields. Registered and Licensed Dietitian preferred - Experience:
Minimum of four years progressively more responsible work experience in nutrition/food service required. Public school or federal food service program experience preferred - Skills:
Demonstrate supervisory ability, excellent organizational and communication skills, knowledge of food preparation and department of health regulations
Essential Job Functions:
- Assess the nutrition education needs of the district and coordinate/integrate nutrition education with the district curriculum
- Work with Director to select age appropriate education materials and activities
- Plan/attend Health Fairs held by sites or community to promote the importance of Child Nutrition Programs
- Manage student allergies and special diets
- Create and compile all menu rotations for school sites and special diets for design and upload to district website
- Maintain and review all accreditation statements
- Monitor and supervise freezer/cooler temperatures
- Order groceries when necessary
- Oversee summer feeding
- Work with Director to update SOP's
- Work with Director on state reports
- Maintain nutritional information in Mosaic menu planner
- Attend monthly manager's meetings
- Conduct site inspections when needed
- Help CN Coordinator (Staffing) develop professional standards for all employees
- Coordinate & place promotions in menu cycle
- Work with Director to maintain and update Allergy information
- Maintain wellness policy and participate in District wellness committee
- Other area responsibilities as assigned by Director

Attendance Statement:
Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities with 95% minimum attendance.
Environmental Conditions:
Office atmosphere at Central Office. May be exposed to institutional kitchen environment during inspections, employee training, etc.
