Overview

Position Title:

Enterprise Data Architect
Department: ETS Analytics and AI Data

Location:

Remote within the United States (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas). Apply only if you reside and work full-time in one of the listed states or plan to relocate before starting.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement scalable, secure, and interoperable data systems (data warehouses, data lakes, real-time processing platforms) for OU Health’s enterprise data analytics platform.
  • Define and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to standardize data across clinical, research, and operational systems; ensure models meet healthcare requirements (clinical, claims, provider, member, etc.).
  • Design and oversee data integration processes (ETL/ELT) to enable data flow between OU Health and external entities as needed.
  • Collaborate with clinical, research, and administrative stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data solutions that meet departmental needs; facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and integrate new technologies to support evolving healthcare analytics needs.
  • Implement robust security and backup procedures to protect patient information and ensure privacy compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain system documentation, data dictionaries, and architecture blueprints.
  • Provide training and mentorship on data management best practices; identify opportunities to enhance data infrastructure and enable advanced analytics.
  • Work with clinical staff, IT professionals, data analysts, and researchers to understand data requirements, workflows, and pain points; facilitate regular meetings and workshops.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data concepts into actionable insights.
  • Ensure data architecture decisions reflect clinician, administrator, and compliance priorities; promote knowledge sharing through documented standards and best practices.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to troubleshoot data issues, optimize workflows, and implement new technologies; participate in project planning to ensure architecture aligns with goals, timelines, and resources.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other architects to deliver integrated solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field.
  • Experience:

    5 years in data architecture, database design, or healthcare IT.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Proficiency in SQL, No

    SQL, cloud platforms; experience with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7); data modeling, ETL tools, and data integration platforms; programming (Python, Java, Scala); experience with big data technologies; strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities; ability to work collaboratively across clinical and technical teams; deep understanding of healthcare data security, privacy, and compliance; experience in data governance, data hub design, and advanced analytics;

    knowledge of Azure, AWS, or GCP; certification in data architecture or healthcare informatics preferred.
