Manufacturing Production, Machine Operator
The Press Machine Operator is responsible for operating and tending to the press machines to mold, shape, and form rubber components. The operator uses job travelers and other documentation to specify and ensure conformance.
Primary ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Production Supervisor and/or the Press Lead, the Press Operator:
- Cuts and loads rubber compounds onto molds
- Monitors the press machine operation and observes the lights and gauges to detect press machine malfunctions
- Operates the press and removes parts from the mold in a safe manner
- Notifies supervisors when the rubber component and/or molds don’t meet standards
- Provides the quality inspector with a sample of the finished product
- Cleans excess product from the press and molds as needed, using various tools supplied by the company
- Maintains a clean and safe work area
- Wears protective equipment at all times
- Ability to understand and communicate details logically and accurately in English
- Ability to complete counting and basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to record information in writing and to enter data accurately into the computer
- Ability to use basic hand tools
- Other duties as assigned
Occasionally:
Reach above shoulder with both hands and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Frequently: lift upward with both arms outstretched, count and calculate, communicate details
Constantly: stand, reach outward with both hands, handle/touch, wrist and elbow flexion, rotation, and articulation
Other:
Near point vision, sense of touch, tolerance for temperature in a non-controlled environment
