Field Machinist

Position Overview

The Field Machinist will perform precision machining services on-site at industrial facilities, including refineries, chemical plants, power generation facilities, and other heavy industrial environments. This role requires independent decision-making, technical expertise, and a strong safety mindset.

• Perform on-site machining of:
• Flange facing
• Line boring
• Milling
• Drilling & tapping
• Shaft repair
• Stud removal
• Journal machining
• Keyway cutting
• Interpret technical drawings, isometrics, and equipment specifications
• Work within tight tolerances (±.001” when required)
• Set up and operate portable machining equipment
• Ensure all work meets client specifications and industry standards
• Complete accurate documentation and service reports
• Maintain tools and equipment in peak working conditions
• Follow all safety procedures including LOTO, confined space, and rotating equipment protocols

• 5+ years machining experience (industrial or field machining preferred)
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Rotating equipment
  • Pumps, compressors, turbines
  • Bolt torque and tension procedures (preferred)
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings fluently
• Experience working in refineries, plants, or turnaround environments preferred
• Must possess strong problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work extended hours during outages or turnarounds
• Valid driver’s license required
