Job Description
The job requires you to work effectively in a team environment and emphasizes healthy customer relations. You must have a strong attention to detail, the ability to follow procedures, and superior oral and written communication skills. You should be a critical thinker who is able to apply innovative solutions to complex problems. The most successful technicians also have an aptitude for math, technical writing ability.
While much of the job entails sitting, some standing and bending is required along with the unassisted lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds. Good vision and hand‑eye coordination are essential as well.
Instruments that require inspection and repair may be of an acoustical, chemical, electrical, fluid, mechanical, optical or thermodynamic nature. You must compile, measure and record data from each instrument for other technicians and managers to review. Reports should include practical recommendations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
