Job Summary

Assembles electronic components, wire wrap cards, assemble modules, hydraulic pumps, subassemblies, equipment boards, harnesses, panels, power supplies and cables. Applies fundamental principles and concepts, performs routine and complex activities, and progresses to more advanced tasks as experience develops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Applies fundamental principles and concepts.
  • Performs routine aspects and advances to varied and complex activities with additional knowledge and experience.
  • Participates in subject matter training to gain complex skills.
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
  • Knowledge of military and commercial quality specifications.
  • Works and reworks prototype items and regular production items.
  • Works with engineering to develop new techniques or to resolve difficult and unusual problems, making recommendations for fixtures and production aids.
  • Contributes suggestions for design or procedural changes related to production improvements.
  • Crimps, stakes, screws, sells, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts.
  • Mounts assembled components on chassis panels.
  • Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
  • Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Assembles and attaches hardware to assemblies.
  • Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color coding parts and assemblies.
  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Performs online go/no‑go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three years related experience and/or training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Thorough knowledge and use of all applicable electronic assembly hand tools: automatic and manual crimpers, luggers, and wire strippers.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
