Job Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and providing medical support within a regulated plasma production environment.
Schedule & AvailabilityThis role requires participation in a rotating weekend schedule. Candidates must be available to work during assigned weekends as part of the regular shift rotation.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, and blood testing.
- Review laboratory test results and donor notification of unsuitable test results.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS to investigate pandemic threats.
- Provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support at the center level.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate‑level recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Basic IV therapy skills as required by state licensure.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.
