Role Overview

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, ensuring donor eligibility, monitoring donor safety, and providing medical and operational support under guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies, including donor transport to emergency care.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room, following environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfilled state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completed FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment.

Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 (actual wage based on qualifications, experience, location, and applicable minimum wage).
