Job Description Basic Purpose

Interpretive Guides facilitate educational programming, serve as guides for areas of interest within a state park or other tourism location, and maintain facility standards. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, and physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments. This is a seasonal, part-time, entry-level position.

Job Duties
  • Lead guided hikes or other outdoor recreation activities.
  • Deliver educational programming.
  • Plan and lead arts and crafts activities.
  • Maintain trail upkeep, including repairs, within the park.
  • Perform live animal enclosure upkeep, including care and cleaning, if applicable.
  • Assist with routine groundskeeping and facility organization around Nature Center, if applicable.
  • Greet and assist visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Engage with guests in informed interpretation.
  • Assist in event setup and takedown.
  • Complete daily opening and closing duties for Nature Center, if applicable.
  • Prepares and submits required reports, evaluations and visitor surveys.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite as well as other software to complete various administrative tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support daily operations and agency needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Physical requirements will include the ability to lead walking tours and navigate trails, regular bending, stooping, and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to heat, humidity, sun, and wind.
Special Requirements
  • Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency.
  • Some locations will require a valid Driver’s License.
