This Opportunity
WSP USA is seeking a Connectivity/ISP Quality Assurance Representative to join a data center construction project near Rayville, LA.
This full-time, onsite Quality Assurance staff member will be responsible as owners’ representative for observing and tracking the installation, testing, and room readiness of fiber and cable tray installation, of a large-scale mission‑critical facility to ensure compliance with the project‑specific drawings and specifications.
Your Impact- Ensure compliance with the client’s quality program and project drawings via routine inspections of all fiber inside pathways.
- Use an electronic field device and software (e.g., iPad with ACC BUILD) to communicate and track results of inspections and note deficiencies throughout the construction and early commissioning process.
- Work in a dynamic team environment as the owner representative with manufacturers, construction managers, general contractor and lower‑tiered subcontractors.
- Read project schedules and determine necessary inspections based on project and client specifications.
- Proactively schedule inspections and tests with the general contractor and lower‑tiered subcontractors based on short‑term look‑ahead schedule.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports summarizing the inspections performed and their results.
- Track documented inspection issues and shortcomings through to resolution.
- Tailor provided general inspection checklists for project specific equipment.
- Recognize installation trends, investigate root‑cause analysis, and recommend process improvement.
- 5–7 years of construction and/or quality assurance experience, including 2+ years in complex, mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, hospitals, or large‑scale construction.
- Experience pulling fiber throughout large‑scale, mission‑critical data centers.
- Demonstrated experience with major regulations, industry codes, and standards affecting connectivity installation.
- Experience with fiber splicing, OTDR, power meters, and visual fault locator devices.
- Experience with deliverables such as fiber test reports and splice path records.
- Knowledge of network and telecom circuits.
- Ability to read cable maps and understand cable counts.
- Experience with traditional copper cabling.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling of Cat5e and Cat
6. - Knowledge regarding installation of fiber splice cases, patch panels, and fiber panels.
- College, trade school, or military training in a technical discipline.
- Able to walk distances on uneven sites, climb small ladders, and work in an active construction environment.
- Certifications in quality assurance or commissioning desired (e.g., BICSI, telecom certifications, CDCAP, DCEP, ICC, CxA, NICET, ASHRAE, USACE CQM).
- Must pass background check.
