job overviewpositions in this job family handle, prepare, cook and serve food for regular, modified and special diets at griffin memorial hospital. This includes maintaining clean and sanitary work, preparation and serving areas. At this level, the incumbent administers the food service unit and activities of assigned staff in the preparation and serving of food at griffin memorial hospital and children's recovery center.
The incumbent provides direction to staff members in completing assigned work and ensuring completion of required activities. Responsibilities include interpreting menus and menu instructions; ensuring proper hygiene and sanitation methods are followed; inspecting kitchen and dining areas; requisitioning supplies; and maintaining a storeroom.
- full time, 8‑hour shifts
- $19.23/hour plus benefits allowance, vacation, sick leave and an excellent retirement plan
- scheduled days: varies (8‑hour shifts / 5 days a week (40‑hour workweeks))
- non‑exempt
- three years experience in a commercial or institutional food service or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- or one year vocational or technical school training in food preparation substituting for the required experience.
- upon a conditional offer, applicants must submit to a physical examination and meet the requirements of lifting/carrying 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and be able to push and pull a maximum force of 50 pounds.
- applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job‑related travel normally associated with this position and have a valid driver’s license.

this agency requires coverage 24 hours, 7 days per week. Work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity. Employees may be required to work weekends and overtime.
