Littleton Public Schools (LPS) is a school district located a few miles south of downtown Denver, serving approximately 13,000 students from preschool through Grade 12.

Applicant must be available to work any day during the week. Must be able to work days, afternoons, and evening shifts, including holidays, in the Security Officer or on Patrol. Applicant may have to work shifts with only 8 hours between shifts when covering for missing employees.

Position Details
  • Grade: 8
  • Hourly Pay: $26.51 (includes Vacation, Sick Time and Personal days)
  • Work Hours: Shifts vary – Weekends, Nights and Holidays required for the 24/7 365‑day operation
  • Location: Based out of the District Office (not a school site)
  • Calendar: Fulltime year‑round position (253‑day calendar)
Position Purpose

This position assists in reviewing transportation bus videos and documenting findings critical to student safety. Duties are rotated with regular Security Dispatch or Patrol responsibilities to ensure accurate documentation of video reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and interacts with the district’s unified security, communication, Mass Notification, HVAC, Fire, and hazard monitoring/alert systems.
  • Responds to and dispatches appropriate responders to events detected by these systems.
  • Patrols district property by foot and/or vehicle to check for situations that could impact safety and security.
  • Responds to emergencies and assists other responders professionally.
  • Conducts thorough reviews of bus surveillance footage, dedicating four‑to‑six hours each shift to analyze and document activities.
  • Interacts with staff, students, and the public in a professional manner, including properly de‑escalating difficult situations.
  • Logs all alarms, incident reports, HVAC status checks, card access transactions, building access/security, and other assigned reports to standards.
  • Logs all events detected on the unified security, HVAC, Fire, Mass Notification, and hazard detection systems.
  • Communicates via phone, e‑mail, two‑way pagers, and two‑way radio.
  • Performs directed maintenance and diagnostics on the unified security system (video management, access cards, mass notification, device batteries).
  • Performs general periodic emergency response pager duty after hours and deploys radio or cell phone to provide two‑way communication with the security office.
Other Duties

Job Qualifications – Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some criminal justice or human services college coursework desirable.
  • CPI certification within six months of employment.
  • FEMA CERT certification within one year of employment.
  • All other required certificates.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification during employment.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
Experience

Preferred at least 3 years of experience in security system monitoring, physical security, or a law enforcement position; district security may consider training the right candidate.
