(Unique Program Requirements) Options Secondary and the NOVA Programs serves alternative learners, at-risk, expelled youth, and students needing a bit more support in grades 6-12. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, both Options and the NOVA Program employ a strong social-emotional component designed to meet the needs of each student. They support students as they develop academic and social competence in an atmosphere that encourages and supports self-regulation and direction.

Hourly Base Pay: $26.51 - Pay for the 10 months is spread out over the 12 months in a year. Additional compensation is based on relevant experience.

Position PurposeAs a school based District Officer, the primary objective is to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors within your assigned school. This role involves implementing and enforcing policies and procedures related to school safety, emergency preparedness, and crisis response. The school based District Security Officer collaborates with school administrators, local law enforcement, and community stakeholders to create a secure and nurturing environment conducive to effective learning.
Additionally, the position entails fostering positive relationships with students and assisting to resolve conflict. The school based District Security Officer serves as a visible and approachable presence, promoting a sense of trust and community while proactively addressing any security concerns that may arise. Overall, the incumbent is dedicated to promoting a safe and supportive educational environment that contributes to the holistic development of all individuals within the school community.
Duties
- Provides the monitoring of all of the district's surveillance security cameras.
- Monitors and interacts with the district's unified security, communication, mass notification, and all hazard monitoring/alert systems. Responds to and dispatches appropriate responders to events and incidents that are detected throughout the school.
- Performs mobile and foot patrols of district property interior/exterior to team standards; is aware of and able to communicate via mobile radio or cell phone to others about all security instructions and district emergency planning procedures; respond to incidents as a 1st responder and assist other 1st responders in emergencies; responds to emergencies and assists other responders in a professional manner.
- Interacts with staff, students and the public in a professional manner to include properly de-escalating difficult situations; works under potentially hostile and stressful situations. Logs all incident reports, building access/secures and other assigned reports to standards.
- Provides light maintenance and service checks on card readers, change batteries, motion detectors, security cameras and other assigned equipment as directed by the Assistant Director of Security.
- Conducts and documents at least one camera audit per day. Information from the audit must be logged in the appropriate google sheet. Emails may be required to the appropriate District Security staff to complete a repair.
- Conducts daily building audits with the Ready Op form. Serious damage should be reported immediately to your direct Supervisor and the local School Liaison.
