The starting pay is $19.81/hr, may increase to $21.78/hr after successful completion of a one-year trial period.
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving patrolling park/resort grounds and property and the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations within the assigned area of responsibility. This includes ensuring the safety and welfare of park/resort visitors and assigned staff.
TypicalJob Duties
- Patrols assigned areas within a state park/resort; provides security and protection for property, visitors and staff.
- Assists visitors as needed; ensures compliance with established laws, rules and regulations, including traffic enforcement.
- Conducts investigations; issues warnings and written citations; makes arrests and seizes and secures property and/or contraband; writes detailed reports; and completes appropriate documentation.
- Represents the agency in court during legal proceedings; provides testimony or presents evidence as required; and assists other law enforcement agencies.
- Provides security and protection to the public and Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department staff, state property, and natural resources.
- Provides first aid to injured person(s) as necessary.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess Peace Officer CLEET certification or out of state equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
- Be in sound physical and psychological condition as evidenced through the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department’s screening process.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and polygraph.
- Pass Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System physical.
- Pass a rigorous character and background investigation.
- Within one year of hire, selected person must complete OTRD’s in‑house Field Training Officer Program.
- Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency.
- Some positions may require statewide travel.
- All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be subject to a background check.
