Carpenter; Hospital Renovations

The Carpenter performs a variety of duties in and around the hospital complex related to framing, cabinet manufacturing, demo and drywall, repairs, and general construction in accordance with DNV standards and applicable codes.

• Perform all tasks related to the carpentry trade
• Ensure compliance with the hospital’s fire and safety codes before, during, and after each work project
• Installs commercial door frames and door hardware
• Install suspended and hard ceilings
• Assist cabinet maker with manufacturing and installation of millwork and solid surface counter tops
• Perform general contract labor work
• All other related assigned duties

• High school diploma or GED
• + 4 years of related experience as a commercial carpenter

• Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Ability to complete construction projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Able to work independently in a team environment

This position will interact with staff, visitors, and patients.

Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 80 pounds on a frequent basis with prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically‑powered tools and equipment.

This position is mostly subject to inside conditions; however, may be required to be outdoors occasionally. Occasionally may require work with environmental hazards, noisy environment, work infectious agents, near power supplies / machinery, etc. Occasionally may require work with toxic chemicals. Danger from falling cuts and abrasions are present. Subject to call‑backs at all times. Telephone or equivalent is required.
