Education
:
High school diploma or GED. ASE School Bus Certification or Medium /Heavy Duty Truck Certification required. Heavy diesel degree or certificate preferred. State school bus inspector certification required within 6 months of hire.
Experience
:
Minimum 2 years work experience in bus or medium/light duty truck repair and maintenance. At least 1 year in school bus transportation industry preferred.
Skills
:
Valid CDL class B with air brake, passenger, and school endorsements. Knowledge in all aspects of bus and truck repair and maintenance. Able to read, write and communicate in English.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrates considerable knowledge of school bus and vehicles operation and maintenance.
- Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the operating principles of internal combustion engines.
- Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the methods of adjusting and repairing the electrical and generating systems of automotive equipment.
- Skill to perform manual tasks associated with engine maintenance, tire replacement, and vehicle body repair.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to physically perform most repairs. (including, lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, bending, stooping, etc.)
- Demonstrates considerable knowledge and skill in the use and operation of shop tools and machinery.
- Ability to adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems.
- Ability to interpret and work from sketches, diagrams, and installation and repair charts.
