Part‑time, maximum 24 hours per week. Potential Saturday work. Salary: $19.06 per hour.
Driver’s License Examiners (DLE’s) serve as the first line of homeland security for the State of Oklahoma, performing driver’s license interviews, examinations, and inspections to determine eligibility and qualification for driver’s licenses or state identification cards in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities- Conduct interviews with applicants to determine license type and verify documents.
- Advise applicants on disqualifications and provide guidance on resolution procedures.
- Evaluate medical, physical, or mental information per state and federal standards; determine waivers or restrictions.
- Perform in‑depth vehicle safety inspections of vehicles, buses, and commercial vehicles.
- Administer vision, written, pre‑trip, and skills tests; evaluate applicant performance.
- Establish and maintain driver’s license records while protecting confidentiality.
- Assist Legal Division with evidence gathering for potential legal action on fraudulent applications.
- Respond to inquiries from motor license agents and agencies, providing information on laws and procedures.
- Conduct interviews and hearings related to suspensions, revocations, and modifications of driving privileges.
- Render final decisions on appropriate actions based on individual case circumstances.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding driving privileges, physical requirements, exemptions, and license issuance.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle types, safety and operating equipment, and licensing requirements.
- Effective interviewing and communication skills.
- Ability to inspect and evaluate vehicles and equipment.
- Proficiency in operating motor vehicles and administering written/performance tests.
- Computer operation and touch‑typing skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field or four (4) years of technical clerical office work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Familiarity with DMV processes and procedures.
- Proficiency in typing at least 50 words per minute with minimal errors.
- Flexible schedule, including early/late shifts, weekends, and occasional overtime.
- Possibility of occasional travel and use of state vehicles; reliable personal transportation may be required.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required.
- Work in a storefront setting; ability to stand up to eight hours a day and lift 10–50 pounds with assistance as needed.
