SHP Family Advocate

Community Action is seeking candidates for the SHP Family Advocate position to join our SHP team at 210 O Street. This individual will provide case management services to homeless families, ensuring their basic needs are met and assisting them in addressing long‑term goals and needs.

This is a full‑time position consisting of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Starting Pay: $22.42/hour

• Provide case management services through home visits, referrals, and limited transportation support.
• Advocate for clients by coordinating services with community agencies and landlords.
• Assist with housing placement, pre‑inspections, and housing authority inspections.
• Organize and document donations and in‑kind contributions.
• Conduct outreach through coordinated entry systems, assessments, and community events.
• Ensure program compliance through accurate documentation and reporting.
• Attend training and collaborate with staff to support agency goals and mission.

• Associate’s degree in human services, business, or related field preferred.
• Two (2) years of relevant work experience required.
• Strong verbal and written proficiencies of the English language required.
• Valid Nebraska Driver’s License and good driving record required.
• Knowledge of agency programs, services, policies, procedures, and community resources.
• Strong negotiation, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in using computers, Microsoft Office, and office equipment.
• Professional communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities.
• Ability to follow directions, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
• Team collaboration and participation in required training.
