Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Software organization onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or Melbourne, Florida. The role involves designing, developing, integrating, modifying, and maintaining embedded mission‑system applications using best‑practice software engineering standards and participating fully in the software development life cycle.
Responsibilities- Participate in the full software development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery.
- Develop and maintain embedded real‑time software written in C++ and Python for safety‑critical flight and mission systems.
- Work with real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity, and Real‑Time Embedded Linux.
- Perform static and dynamic code analysis using tools like Coverity, Fortify, and Sonar Qube.
- Manage software change control, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines using Atlassian suite, Git Hub, Git Lab, or Jenkins.
- Collaborate in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple baselines.
- Engage with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 2 years of software engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree in one of those fields with 0 years of engineering experience.
- Experience developing software and scripts in C, Object‑Oriented C++, and/or Python for safety‑critical systems.
- Familiarity with architecture, design, modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), implementation, maintenance, debugging, verification, and qualification of real‑time, safety‑critical OS software.
- Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis tools and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, Fortify, and Sonar Qube.
- Experience with software change control, management, and CI/CD tools (Atlassian suite, Git Hub, Git Lab, Jenkins).
- Active DoD Secret level clearance or Top Secret (in‑scope) with the ability to obtain and maintain special program access (PAR) before employment.
- Strong understanding of C and C++ languages, including templates, memory storage, and compiler/linker details.
- Leadership, teamwork, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated professional experience in Agile software development and object‑oriented architectures.
- Experience with DOORS and/or software requirement specification testing using simulators, automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, or Bash.
- Recent experience with static and dynamic code analysis and fuzzing tools.
Primary Level Salary Range: $75,100.00 – $. Salary may vary based on scope, responsibilities, and candidate qualifications.
Potential eligibility for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for senior leadership roles.
