Principal Software Engineer – Embedded and Real‑Time
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Principal Software Engineer – Embedded and Real‑Time to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or Melbourne, Florida.
Relocation & ClearanceRelocation assistance may be available. A Secret clearance is required upon start, with travel of up to 25% of the time.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, integrate, modify and maintain embedded mission‑system applications.
- Participate in the full life‑cycle of software development: requirements, modeling, design, implementation, unit/C‑SCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation and maintenance.
- Architect and develop software on real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity and Real‑Time Embedded Linux.
- Work on Agile Scrum teams to produce software for multiple baselines.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5years of related experience, or Master’s with 3years, or PhD with 1year.
- Experience developing safety‑critical software in C, object‑oriented C++ and/or Python.
- Knowledge of modeling tools (Rhapsody, Cameo) and real‑time OS platforms.
- Experience with static/dynamic analysis (Coverity, Fortify, Sonar Qube) and CI/CD tools (Atlassian suite, Git Hub, Git Lab, Jenkins).
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or Top Secret where required) with ability to obtain special program access (PAR).
- Deep understanding of C/C++ templates, memory, compiler/linker behavior.
- Experience collaborating with systems, hardware designers and integration/test engineers.
- Leadership, teamwork, strong interpersonal communication.
- Agile development, object‑oriented architecture, and hardware‑software integration.
- Prior work with DOORS, software requirements, simulation, and scripting (Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, Bash).
- Additional static/dynamic analysis and fuzzing experience with Coverity, Fortify, Sonar Qube.
Annual base salary range: $93,300.00 – $. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for certain senior positions.
