Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Bronx, New York. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting and financial operations, as well as proficiency in using Fund-EZ and advanced Excel functionalities. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial management of a non-profit organization while developing your expertise in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process and manage accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.

- Perform detailed bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

- Prepare and post journal entries to support month-end and year-end closing processes.

- Handle accruals and other accounting adjustments as needed.

- Utilize Fund-EZ software for financial reporting and operational tasks.

- Analyze and verify financial data to support audits and compliance requirements.

- Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.

- Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries for management review.

- Conduct ad hoc accounting tasks and support special projects as assigned. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.

- Proficiency in Fund-EZ software.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
