We are seeking an experienced Non Profit Senior Accountant for a temporary assignment to support our finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit and fund accounting experience and must possess hands-on expertise with MIP Fund Accounting Software (MIP by Community Brands). This role will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Manage general ledger activities and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Utilize MIP Fund Accounting Software to process transactions, generate reports, and maintain accounting records.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and grant/fund activity.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
- Support audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
- Monitor compliance with GAAP and organizational accounting policies.
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with finance leadership and cross-functional departments on special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Required:
Recent, hands-on experience with MIP Fund Accounting Software. - Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with nonprofit, government, or fund accounting environments preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
