Payroll Specialist

Description We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a legal organization in Bronx, New York. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage payroll activities with accuracy and independence for a workforce of approximately 505 employees. The role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment in payroll review, and the ability to help maintain continuity during an upcoming payroll platform implementation.

Responsibilities:

- Process end-to-end payroll for a multi-state employee population of roughly 505 staff members, ensuring timely and accurate pay distribution.

- Examine timesheets and payroll records to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and support compliance with internal policies and payroll regulations.

- Administer payroll-related reimbursements and verify supporting documentation before payment is issued.

- Maintain payroll data within systems such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, and Paychex, keeping employee records current and accurate.

- Partner with internal stakeholders to answer payroll questions, address exceptions, and provide reliable support on pay-related matters.

- Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting to strengthen accuracy and readiness for review.

- Contribute to payroll operations connected to an upcoming system implementation by validating data and supporting process continuity.

- Apply consistent controls and documentation practices to help ensure compliance across payroll activities. Requirements - Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle payroll from data review through final processing.

- Background handling multi-state payroll with knowledge of standard payroll practices and compliance considerations.

- Hands-on experience supporting payroll for an employee population of 500 or more.

- Proficiency with payroll platforms, including ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, and Paychex.

- Strong ability to audit timesheets, investigate discrepancies, and maintain high levels of accuracy.

- Experience processing payroll-related reimbursements and maintaining organized supporting records.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a hands-on payroll environment.
