Albert Einstein Medical College Department of Anesthesiology Clinical Care Deliver safe, complete, and comprehensive anesthetic care Provide compassionate, respectful care focusing on patient safety which may include speaking in a clear and respectful manner, and using layman terms for greater patient understanding Have meaningful discussions about treatment options and risks and benefits Share appropriate clinical information with all members of the healthcare team Adhere to accepted ASA Guidelines Maintain a professional manner (See Behavioral Expectations) Participate in Quality Assurance Program including timely completion of QA/I forms with honest reporting of adverse events Attend Department QA/QI meetings, and actively participate in meaningful case discussions Formulate plans to avoid future complications Achieve and maintain Board certification Maintain CME credits Attend workshops to learn new technical skills and knowledge.

Keep current with new trends, medications, and techniques in related disciplines Resident Education Participate in morning lectures, didactic and clinical teaching Guide residents with grand round presentations Conduct written board review for the residents Conduct mock oral exams for residents Teach in the operating room Assign related reading assignments prior to operative case and discuss preoperative and intraoperative management prior to case Participate in journal club by choosing the article and facilitating the discussion Facilitate resident development of clinical or basic science research projects Orient the new CA
-1 residents during the 1st month and help them with the transition into Anesthesiology residency Mentor residents throughout their residency Give timely one-on-one feedback and fill out all required resident evaluations Participate in on-going evaluations of Residency program as requested Remain aware and compliant with ACGME requirements as they pertain to anesthesiology programs Medical Student Education Provide didactic and clinical teaching in and out of the operating room Facilitate the medical students with the research projects and if they are new to research , introduce them to research Guide medical students in choosing their career paths Faculty Continuing Medical Education Attend a national professional meeting of high quality at least once a year Participate and present at national meetings if possible.

Attend grand rounds and faculty meetings regularly except when on call or on vacation Maintain the required CME credits each year Achieve and maintain board certification and recertification Maintain society membership with ASA, NYSSA, and other relevant professional organizations Strive to attend faculty development seminars at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Research Remain current with anesthesiology journals and associated research related materials Participate in writing publications, e.g. manuscripts, abstracts, textbook chapters, review articles, case reports Present projects posters with or without discussions, departmental/regional/national or international meetings Apply for grants in both the private and national arenas Participate in the maintenance and completion of ongoing research projects Participate in ongoing research projects by identifying patients for projects, acquiring samples and data, facilitating the primary investigator in any manner Document research progress to department leadership Publish final product in a peer reviewed journal within and outside your specialty Document progress in teaching portfolio Apply for promotion based on clinical educator or research Behavioral Expectations Demonstrate evidence of all professional responsibilities and adherence to all University, Hospital and ASA guidelines regarding ethical behavior and code of conduct Handle all confidential information in adherence to institutional and professional guidelines Demonstrate effective communication techniques during periods of stress in order to decrease patient, family, and co-worker uneasiness Display maturity and self-control in conflict resolution Demonstrate a willingness to be open to input and ideas from other…
